Chinese Year of the OX by Peter Neumann

Year of the OX Peter Neumann

Chinese Year of the OX by Peter Neumann.
Each year Peter Neumann creates one of his special candles to reflect the Chinese year. On February 12th we came into The Year of the Ox. Here a lovely story that relates to that year and the candle that has been created. Now available on our website in three sizes and sold with a folder leaflet of the story.

The story of the Year of the OX and in which the rat can be considered clever for his role.

Upon realizing no one could outrun the ox, he jumped on the ox’s shoulders—and as they approached the finishing line of the river, he made a massive leap off the ox, so that he won the race by a (rat’s) nose. Hence, the Rat is the first animal in the Chinese zodiac, the Ox is second, and the other 10 are ordered according to how they fared in the race.

The pig is last because he stopped for a snack and a nap en route.
